Though slightly off topic, this page features a pizzeria that many believe to be the best

in North America. In fact, The Guardian has named it one of the 50 best places to eat

on Earth.


Frank Pepe’s in New Haven, Conn. has been making phenomenal pizza in their enormous

coal-fired oven since 1925. For thousands of true acolytes, a visit to Pepe’s is a near-religious experience. Though baked at a lower temperature and for a longer time than what is normally considered “Neapolitan” pizza, their pies have an otherworldly, perfectly charred crust that must be experienced to be believed. Pepe’s famous white clam pie, made simply with whole fresh clams, garlic, olive oil and parmesan, has no equals.


Pizza aficionados patiently brave the elements for hours, waiting for the privilege of a table at Pepe’s. It’s worth the pilgrimage.
